Summary Profile

Misc. Information

Mrs. Zarina Jarrar’s son, Abdullah Jarrar has written the following about his mother.

My mother tenure to the school was 1969-2002. She used to teach English and mathematics to the primary section.

My mother loved to teach , it was her passion rather than just a profession for earning money and prestige. Addition to her good knowledge of the subject and confidence she has the wonderful skills and abilities to grab students attention , bridging the gap between herself and the students , developing understanding for each student and their aspirations. Using positive tactics to bring discipline in her students life and giving them the vision to set their direction.

Even during summer vacations she used to teach in refresher courses for teachers, arranged by the school. She used to look for improving her teaching skills and passed her B.Ed exam while she was teaching.

All of her five children including me got the secondary education from the same school. Apart from her profession she is the best mother in the world. We attribute our success in life to her.

Misc. Information

Her son, Shahood Alam (class of 1986) says this about her “I feel proud to state that she is my mother. Our father was living abroad then and she managed to teach at the school and single-handedly brought-up 4 kids (all very naughty), I being the eldest. We all got excellent results in Matriculation and three got admitted to DJ Science College and one in Govt. Commerce College. Two are now Computer Systems Engineers, one Aero Space Engineer and one Chartered Accountant (Masha Allah). We all owe our careers and our lives to our mother. She passed her B.Ed. exam within her teaching span in first attempt after around 14 years break in her education. I do remember how she prepares Origami stuff and other Educational Charts for decorating her class that always stand out during school inspections. Like her sons, I am sure her students must have reached great heights.”

APPEAL FOR DONATION/ZAKAT/GRANTS TO PUBLICAN ALUMNI TRUST

I on behalf of Members of Publican Alumni Trust Board and myself as Chairman would like to acknowledge and appreciate your always forthcoming support to The Publican School and its activities towards the betterment of Education in Pakistan.
Since the inception of the school i.e. 2015, we have achieved many milestones with the help of our donor’s generous contribution. From this year (Academic year 2020), we are starting Secondary classes as last year we secured the registration of PAT school upto Matric level.
With your support we have successfully built 2nd floor on the existing school building to start higher classes including science and computer labs. As you all know that we provide not only quality education but also inculcate Ethical values and discipline through regular sessions and third part seminars.
The budget of the expansion plan during the last year and a half, has reached around Rs. 20 Million. We expect to raise another Rs. 30M to meet both Capital and Operational expenditures. Audited Financials of the Publican Alumni Trust is available on our website www.publicantrust.com
Standard of education at The Publican School is not less than any private schools in Pakistan, however, school fee is kept very low to facilitate low income fa,milies of Korangi vicinity.
Alhamdolillah, Allah has blessed you with more than your compatriots. Many of you have in the past extended support in cash and in kind whenever we appealed and requested for Donations in form of Zakat or Grants. Again this year month of Ramadan is just around the corner, and therefore I am making a special appeal to a selected few, and you are one of them, for urgent support to Publican Alumni Trust.
The Publican Alumni Trust (PAT) was established in January 2009 by Publicans, Alumni of Cantonment Public School, Karachi and its successor schools. The Trust was registered under the leadership of Senator (R) Javed Jabbar as its Founder Chairman and is currently led by Admiral (R) Shahid Karimullah. It is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) created with the fundamental purpose and aim to mobilize resources to support the cause of education in Pakistan in its most comprehensive and qualitative sense.
Your Zakat and donations can help break the inter-generational cycle of poverty and inequality, turning dependence into self-reliance and our children into responsible, empowered and active citizens. This unique gift of quality education will continue to create a lasting impact on the lives of these children, their families and our entire society – for generations to come. In the coming month of Ramzan, a month of sharing and generosity, let us resolve to make quality education available to every child in Pakistan.

The Publican Alumni Trust is certified by the Pakistan Center for Philanthropy. Based on this certification, it has also been granted Income Tax Exemption by the Federal Board of Revenue. This exemption allows donors to claim tax credit in their income tax assessments as per prescribed income tax rates. Your Zakat or donations/contributions may please be credited directly to the Trust’s account, details given below, or by crossed cheque in favor of “Publican Alumni Trust” sent to:
